24-Year-Old Kills Elder Brother Over Sheep Dispute in Hattialur
Belagavi: In a shocking case under Yamakanmardi police station limits, a man killed his elder brother after a fight over taking care of sheep.
The accused, 24-year-old Basantraj Suresh Kamati from Hattialur village, was arrested after he confessed to the crime. The victim was his own brother, 28-year-old Rayappa Suresh Kamati.
According to the police, Rayappa had gone to feed the sheep on May 8, 2025, but did not return. Later, his body was found near Paschapur village. He had been hit on the head with a stone. Their father, Suresh Birappa Kamati, filed a police complaint the next day.
A special team led by Inspector Javed Mushapuri, under the guidance of SP Dr. Bhimashankar Guled, investigated the case for nearly a month.
During questioning, Basantraj admitted he killed his brother. He said Rayappa kept forcing him to look after the sheep, which he didn’t want to do as he had other dreams. On the day of the incident, while Rayappa was using his phone, Basantraj threw chili powder in his eyes and hit him with a stone multiple times.
The police recovered the stone used in the crime and produced Basantraj in court. The case has now been solved, bringing an end to a tragic story of a family fight that turned violent.
