AAI Allocates Over Rs 229 Crores for Extensive Upgrade of Belagavi Airport

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has released Rs. 229.57 crore for the expansion and upgradation of Belagavi Airport. The project includes the expansion of the passenger terminal building, apron expansion, runway extension, and installation of aerobridges.

The new terminal building will be spacious, covering an area of 20,000 square meters. It will have modern facilities like a baggage handling system, security screening, and air traffic control. With a capacity to accommodate 1,400 passengers during peak hours, it aims to provide a comfortable experience for travelers.

The apron area will be expanded to accommodate more aircraft, and the runway will be extended to 2,500 meters. This will allow larger planes like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 to operate at the airport.

The upgrade of Belagavi Airport is expected to increase air traffic in the region. It will attract new airlines and improve connectivity to the city, benefitting both passengers and the local economy.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 36 months, providing a significant boost to the region. The new terminal building, extended runway, and improved facilities will enhance the airport's capabilities and open up new travel opportunities for passengers. It is also anticipated to have a positive impact on the region by improving connectivity, attracting investments, and boosting tourism.
