Belagavi Breakthrough! Long-Pending Central Projects Finally Moving After Years of Delay
Belagavi: Several long-pending Central government infrastructure projects in and around Belagavi, which had been stalled for years due to land acquisition issues, are now finally gaining momentum. This significant breakthrough comes after concerted efforts from Belagavi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Roshan and Member of Parliament (MP) Jagadish Shettar.
The revival of these projects promises to boost connectivity and development across the region.
Key Projects See Breakthroughs
Among the crucial projects now moving forward is the Belagavi-Dharwad railway line via Kittur. Sanctioned in 2019, this vital rail link had seen minimal progress. Officials have now confirmed that the entire land acquisition process for this railway line is complete, and construction work is expected to commence shortly.
Another long-delayed project, the Halaga-Macche bypass highway, sanctioned as early as 2009, is also witnessing renewed activity. Construction is currently underway after legal and land acquisition disputes were successfully resolved. This bypass is anticipated to significantly ease traffic congestion in the urban areas it skirts.
Furthermore, the ambitious Belagavi Ring Road project, which was sanctioned in 2018 with a substantial budget of Rs 3,800 crore, has also made significant progress. Reports indicate that approximately 80% of the necessary land acquisition for this vital connectivity project has now been completed.
The combined efforts of the local administration and elected representatives have been pivotal in clearing the hurdles that stalled these projects for years. Their progress is expected to usher in a new phase of infrastructure development and improve the overall transport network for residents and businesses in the Belagavi region.
