Belagavi Horror: Minor Gang-Raped, Then Blackmailed with Video. Five Arrested, Search On for Sixth
A harrowing case of gang-rape involving a 15-year-old minor has come to light in Belagavi, Karnataka, where the victim was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual assault and then blackmailed with video recordings of the crime. Police have arrested five individuals, including two minors, in connection with the horrific incidents, which reportedly occurred between December 2024 and January 2025. A search is underway for a sixth accused.
Authorities revealed that the perpetrators not only sexually assaulted the young girl multiple times at different locations but also filmed these heinous acts. This video footage was then used to continuously blackmail and exploit the minor.
The ordeal came to light when the girl's parents observed a change in her behavior. Upon being confronted, the brave victim revealed the abuse she had endured.
According to the police complaint, the minor was initially lured by a friend (one of the accused) in December 2024 to Windmill Hill in Muttyanatti village, where she was allegedly gang-raped by six individuals, with one recording the incident. In January 2025, the perpetrators reportedly abducted her again, taking her to Khadi Machine Hill near Alatage, where three of the accused further assaulted her. Both crime sites fall under the jurisdiction of the Kakati Police Station.
Prompt action by a police team, led by Inspector US Avati, resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including two minors. The police commissioner has stated that a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case has been registered and stressed that sensitive details cannot be revealed due to the victim's minor status.
This incident marks the second reported rape of a minor in Belagavi city within a single month, sparking significant alarm regarding escalating crime rates and raising serious concerns for women's and children's safety in the region. The case has placed immediate pressure on newly appointed Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse to restore public trust and ensure swift justice. Police have assured that all possible efforts are being made, including forensic investigation, to ensure the perpetrators face the strictest punishment.
