In a remarkable act of heroism, a teenage boy bravely rescued an elderly man from drowning in the Ghataprabha river near Mallapur village, Belagavi. The quick-thinking teenager, Vithal Wodeyar from Pamaladinni village, spotted a car being swept away by the strong currents of the river.

Realizing that one of the passengers was still trapped inside the sinking car and unable to swim, Vithal didn't hesitate to spring into action. Without a second thought, he leaped into the river and reached the stranded vehicle. With great courage, he managed to pull out the distressed passenger, Khaleel Rajannavar of Banahatti town, Bagalkot district, and brought him safely to the riverbank.

Fortunately, the other passenger, Mallik Mulla, had managed to swim to safety. It was revealed that the Rajannavar brothers, who are traders based in Banahatti, were en route to Gokak for business when their car encountered the treacherous waters near the Duradundi-Ramapur bypass.

Grateful for his bravery, the Rajannavar brothers later met with Vithal Wodeyar's family to extend their heartfelt gratitude for saving Khaleel's life. The selfless actions of this courageous teenager have undoubtedly made him a true local hero.
