EC Allows Disabled and Elderly Voters to Cast Their votes from Home, Over 9,000 voters to cast their vote from Belagavi
The Election Commission is allowing physically disabled individuals and those over 80 years of age to vote from home. A total of 9,070 such voters have submitted their filled forms to election officials. The officials' team will visit the homes of the applicants between April 29 and May 1 to collect the votes, following guidance issued by the Election Commission.
According to district election officer Nitesh Patil, 1,708 physically disabled and 7,362 elderly people have applied to vote from home. Out of 7,362 elderly voters, 559 are from Nippani constituency, Chikodi-Sadalaga has 388, Athani- 299, Kagwad-365, Kudachi-211, Raibag 314, Hukkeri-151, Arabhavi-535, Gokak-351, Yamakanmaradi- 183, Belagavi North-542, Belagavi South 795, Belagavi Rural- 350, Khanapur -483, Kittur-347, Bailhongal 704, Savadatti Yallamma-407 and 378 from Ramadurga -378 have registered to vote from home.
Of the 1,708 physically disabled registered in the district, 90 from Nipani constituency, 91from Chikkodi-Sadalaga, 52-Athani, 54-Kagavad, 50-Kudachi, 85-Raibag, 92-Hukkeri, 114-Arabhavi, 105-Gokak, 97-Yamakanmaradi, 55-Belagavi North, 88- Belagavi South, 67- Belagavi Rural, 174- Khanapur, 143- Kittur, 148-Bailhongal, 77-Savadatti Yallamma and 126 from Ramdurg constituency have registered to vote from home.
Starting from April 29 and concluding on May 1, the voting from home procedure will be carried out, where 20 teams of officials will visit the homes of eligible applicants in each constituency to collect their forms. While political parties are allowed to register their presence during the voting process, they are not permitted to conduct any promotional activities or influence voters at the location, as stated by the district election officer.
