From February 22 to 24, 28 dead in multiple accidents in Belagavi district

In just three days, a total of 28 individuals lost their lives in various accidents across Belagavi district. Following this, the police department has implemented measures to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations to reduce accidents.


15 individuals lost their lives in three separate car accidents. One of these accidents occurred near Beedi village in Khanapur taluk on Thursday, where a car carrying 10 passengers crashed into a tree while en route to Golihalli for a wedding, resulting in six fatalities and four serious injuries.


Another tragic incident took place near Mugalkhod village of Raibag taluk on Friday, where a car driver lost control, colliding with two motorcycles before crashing into a tree, claiming the lives of six people, including four car passengers and two motorcyclists.


In a separate accident on Friday in Yaragatti taluk of Belagavi district, three individuals lost their lives and two were injured in a head-on collision between two cars, while two bikers were killed in a collision with a canter near Yamakanamaradi in Hukkeri taluk.


Additionally, a woman lost her life in Nippani on Saturday when an autorickshaw overturned, and on the same day, a man was killed in a bike collision with a bus in the same area.


Furthermore, according to sources from the district hospital, nine others who were admitted for treatment following severe injuries sustained in multiple accidents have also succumbed to their injuries in the past three days.
Due to the rising number of accidents in the district, law enforcement has boosted monitoring of traffic on highways and main roads. Vehicles found exceeding their authorized passenger capacity are being fined, and efforts to uphold traffic regulations have been intensified.
