Traders Must Secure Municipal Licenses: UDYAM Certificate No Longer Enough, Says Muncipal Commissioner Shubha B.
Traders in Belagavi must now obtain municipal trade licenses in addition to their UDYAM certificates, as announced by Municipal Commissioner Shubha B. During her visit to key market areas like Kalamath Road and Maruti Galli, she warned that those without updated licenses would face strict action.
Over 4,000 traders in the central market and 8,000 across the city have yet to renew their licenses. To address this, the municipal corporation has set up 21 teams to check licenses and recover land. Health department staff have already begun inspections, finding many traders relying on UDYAM certificates, which are only valid for manufacturing units.
“All businesses must have a municipal license, even if they have an UDYAM certificate,” said the Commissioner. This new rule aims to ensure all traders comply and avoid penalties.
