UGC declares 21 universities across India as “fake”, including one from Belagavi
The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday, August 25, declared 21 “self-styled” and “unrecognized” institutions as fake and not empowered to confer any degree.
In its public notice, the UGC stated that “The right of conferring or granting degrees shall be exercised only by a University established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, a Provincial Act or a State Act or an institution deemed to be a University under Section 3 or an institution specially empowered by an Act of Parliament to confer or grant degrees.”
Badaganvi Sarkar World Open University Education Society, Gokak, Belagavi of Karnataka has been declared fake as per the circular.
