Public Consultation to Be Held in Belagavi Before Flyover Construction Begins
The Karnataka government will hold a public consultation in Belagavi before starting the construction of a major flyover connecting two national highways in the city. The meeting will take place on January 6, and citizens, traders, and other stakeholders are invited to participate.
District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi said the purpose of the meeting is to gather public opinions, clear doubts, and understand concerns related to the project. Suggestions from the public will be considered before finalising the plan.
The proposed flyover will help reduce traffic congestion in the city and improve connectivity. It will connect National Highway 48 (Pune–Bengaluru) with National Highway 748 (Belagavi–Panaji). The project will be built in three phases and will not require land acquisition, as it will be constructed on pillars built on public land.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹270 crore, which has already been approved by the State Cabinet. Construction will cover three stretches:
- Sankam Hotel to Rani Channamma Circle
- Rani Channamma Circle to Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk
- Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk to Tilakwadi Third Railway Gate
Officials assured that proper alternative traffic arrangements will be made during construction to avoid inconvenience to the public. Representatives from the district administration, police, transport department, Public Works Department, and NHAI attended the meeting.
