Belagavi Educationist Dr Prabhakar Kore Selected for Padma Shri
Belagavi-based educationist Prabhakar Basavprabhu Kore, former chairman of KLE Society, has been selected for the Padma Shri Award in the field of Literature and Education.
Dr. Kore is 78 years old and has served KLE Society for more than 40 years. When he became chairman in 1985, the society had 30 educational institutions. Today, it runs 316 schools, colleges, and hospitals, with over 18,000 staff members and 1.45 lakh students.
KLE Society’s hospitals have more than 3,000 beds and provide advanced medical treatment in many specialised fields.
Expressing his happiness, Dr. Kore said that he will continue to work for education, healthcare, and cultural development.
Members of KLE Society congratulated him on receiving the award. The award recognises his contribution to education, literature, and health research.
Dr. Kore strongly believes that education can bring social change. Apart from education, he has also supported literature and cultural activities. He has focused on teaching values, ethics, and humanism to students through value-based education.
His vision is that education should not only help in getting jobs but also help in nation-building, social development, and healthcare growth.
