Unseasonal Hailstorm Turns Fatal in Belagavi District; One Dead, One Injured

The unseasonal weather currently gripping North Karnataka took a tragic turn today as a house collapse in Hosur village resulted in a fatality.

The victim, identified as 34-year-old Parveen Bepari of Vantamuri village, was killed when a dilapidated house succumbed to the pressure of heavy rain and hail. According to local sources, the structure was unable to withstand the sudden intensity of the storm.

Parveen’s husband, Sharif Bepari, was also caught in the collapse. He was pulled from the debris with serious injuries and was rushed to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) for treatment. His condition remains under observation.

Local authorities are urging residents—especially those living in older or weakened structures—to take extra precautions as the IMD predicts continued atmospheric instability over the next 48 hours. The sudden loss has sent shockwaves through both Hosur and Vantamuri villages, highlighting the severe human cost of this year’s erratic weather patterns.
