CM to Decide on Belagavi District Bifurcation: Satish Jarkiholi

Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Friday said that the decision on the proposed bifurcation of Belagavi district would rest with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Speaking to the media after inaugurating an indoor box cricket stadium at Zilla Bala Bhavan in Belagavi, Mr. Jarkiholi said that district leaders had met the Chief Minister on multiple occasions seeking bifurcation and the creation of a new district. However, he clarified that the final call would be taken by the Chief Minister.

Responding to questions on development works, the minister said there was no need to wait for fresh budgetary allocations. Development activities could be accelerated by effectively utilising funds already available across various departments. He added that Ashoka Circle, Chennamma Circle and Kolhapur Circle would be developed in the coming days.

On the issue of supplying drinking water to Hubballi-Dharwad, Mr. Jarkiholi said the demand could not be denied and noted that adequate water was available at the Hipparagi reservoir.
